Description:
Claytor Lake State Park presents Christmas for the Fishes: Volunteer to Deposit Trees in Lake on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 starting at 9:00 am at the Claytor Lake Marina Parking Lot.
Residents from across the New River Valley have donated their old, live Christmas trees to be dropped into Claytor Lake. Donated trees will be incorporated into reef structures to enhance habitat for game fish.
Interested in helping us deposit trees in the lake? Please meet at the marina parking lot at 9:00 am. Be prepared for adverse weather conditions and bring a pair of work gloves. Volunteers should be able to lift 50 pounds. If inclement weather is forecasted, please call the park office at 540-643-2500 before leaving for the event.
For those wanting to donate old trees, trees will be accepted until Wednesday, January 8th.
