Description:
The Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech continues their Walk or Talk series with "Boxwood Blight - Heroes, Villains and Innocent Bystanders" on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 starting at the Peggy Lee Hahn Garden Pavilion.
Join us as Mary Ann Hansen, Director of the Plant Disease Clinic at Virginia Tech, gives a talk on Boxwood Blight.
Boxwood blight, a recently introduced disease caused by the fungus Calonectria pseudonaviculata, results in severe and sudden defoliation of boxwood. It was detected in a nursery in Carroll County, Virginia, in 2011, and has since spread to other locations, including commercial retail operations and landscape plantings in several counties. Come hear the whole story about the boxwood blight epidemic in Virginia, including its heroes, villains and innocent bystanders.
This talk is free and open to the public.
All 'Walk and Talks' meet at the Peggy Lee Hahn Pavilion at noon on selected Wednesdays.
Parking is limited so come a bit early to find a place to park. We will be handing out visitor parking passes in the pavilion parking lot.
