Description:
The Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts presents Songs and Scenes from ‘The Sap of Life’ on Friday, April 12, 2019 inside the Recital Salon located within the Squires Student Center on the campus of Virginia Tech.
Written in 1961, "The Sap of Life" is a coming-of-age story that opened off-Broadway; it has not been performed since the 1960s.
This workshop performance will feature songs and scenes from the show, presented by students that have had the opportunity to work with the writing team of Richard Maltby, Jr. and David Shire in their residence at Virginia Tech.
As a special treat, Maltby and Shire will be on hand for a Q&A after the performance.
Richard Maltby Jr. is best-known as a lyricist for the musical "Miss Saigon" and as a director of many Broadway shows. David Shire wrote the film scores for "The Taking of Pelham 123," "Zodiac," and a number of other important films.
Admission is free and no tickets are required.
