622 North presents Suga Grits in concert on Friday, April 19, 2019.

Suga Grits is a power funk and jam project from Washington, DC. Beginning as a trio, consisting of drums, bass and keyboards, the band has now expanded to include horns and a one of a kind vocalist.

While the group itself is young, its members each have their own seasoned history in music. From theatre pit crews to weddings to jazz to rock to funk and hip hop, these guys have seen and done it all.

As a trio, Suga Grits brought some serious heat to the studio and the stage, creating sort of a tribal vibe within their funk regime. As a five-piece… well, we’ll just have to wait and see. “Next level” is the only description we have for Suga Grits at the moment, but they have yet to roll out their finished product. The world better be ready, because they are coming in hot!
