Description:
Science on Tap - New River Valley presents "Let's Talk Trash: Why Food Waste Matters" on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Rising Silo Brewery in Blacksburg, VA.

How much food do you waste? Learn about it with Susan Chen, nutrition researcher and PhD student at Virginia Tech. She's a talented science communicator, as she is one of the winners of the university's Nutshell Games, hosted by Virginia Tech's Center for Communicating Science.

Curious about how much food you waste? Start collecting your food scraps and bring them to the event! Let's see how much waste we all collectively make.

Be prepared for some epic trivia to start things off.

Admission is free and open to the public. Food and drink are on your own.

Science On Tap New River Valley community celebrates scientific thought and explores new discoveries through monthly events with a featured researcher. We kick off the event with games, comedy, or other fun things. Then, an invited guest researcher demos their research. And then we'll discuss, ask questions, learn together, and mingle.
