The Artisan Trail is a free, self-guided tour that will highlight 29 of Floyd County’s businesses and artisanal attractions, including pottery studios, art galleries, organic farms, innovative restaurants, unique shops and comfortable lodging spots. Demonstrations and talks including furniture-making, pottery, patchwork quilting, woodworking, painting, farming and gardening, alpaca ownership & products, honeybees and more.
Are you a foodie who appreciates fine beverages and spirits? Then perhaps you’d like to plan your visit around trips to the winery, distillery, coffee shops, and local restaurants. Are you someone who prides herself on always finding the most unique and meaningful gifts? Then maybe you’d like to visit the painters, potters and jewelry makers on the trail. Maybe you’re just someone who enjoys a little rest and relaxation on the weekends. Then plan to stay at the local hotel, or one of the county’s many inns or B&Bs and explore trail sites at your leisure.
Dating back to 2011, the Artisan Trail has provided a charming way for visitors (and locals!) to not only experience the scenic beauty of Floyd County but also experience the county’s diversity of artisanal talent. The tour brings makers and customers closer together by allowing them to interact in the cherished places where the artisans work and create. Nothing is rushed or harried. Visitors can talk with the farmer or beekeeper, watch an artisan’s studio demonstration, or simply search for artisanal treasures.
