Description:
The 17th Annual Henry Reed Memorial Fiddlers Convention will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 and Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Newport Recreation Center.

This Mountains of Music Homecoming event and Crooked Road affiliated festival celebrates the life and music of the legendary fiddler Henry Reed who lived in Southwest Virginia.

Friday features old-time and bluegrass bands performing and Saturday features individual and band competitions. This is a family-friendly event that encourages the whole family to attend!

Friday Performance Line-Up (starting at 5:00 pm):
• 5:00 PM: Reed Family Band
• 6:00 PM: Adam McPeak & Mountain Thunder
• 7:00 PM: Nobody's Business
• 8:00 PM: Adam McPeak & Mountain Thunder
• 9:00 PM: Nobody's Business

The Reed Family Band always kicks things off, followed by two sets each from the featured bluegrass band Adam McPeak & Mountain Thunder and the featured old-time band Nobody's Business.

Adam McPeak and Mountain Thunder are from Southwest Virginia and the group is composed primarily of young bluegrass musicians with mandolin player Adam McPeak at the helm since the age of 13.

Adam didn't have to look beyond the Blue Ridge Mountains of his home for the sound he was searching for, the rich blend of harmonies from his dad, Mike McPeak, also on rhythm guitar. Steve Chrisley lending his deep rich baritone and picking the five string banjo, as Marlon Dean saws out the fiddle breaks and plays twin and harmony fiddle with Nikki Wright, as she is putting out the rich and powerful vocals on both lead and harmony and David Chrisley holds them all together on the bass fiddle.
