Description:
Hotel Floyd presents an Art Gallery Opening featuring Scott Perry and Artists Sidra Kaluszka & Shaun C. Whiteside, who will all be on hand, on Friday, July 12, 2019 in the lobby of Hotel Floyd.
Scott Perry, who has created a fulfilling and prosperous career in Floyd as a professional musician, teacher and consultant will discuss his new book, "Endeavor", in which he helps readers identify their values and develop their talents to flourish by serving others.
Additionally, the stunning work of two regional artists will be displayed and may be purchased. Sidra Kaluszka of Radford, Virginia is a multifaceted artist who specializes in both ceramics and watercolors. She will exhibit stunning paintings and beautiful ceramics that can be worn as jewelry. Kaluszka was chosen by “Watercolor Artist” magazine for its ‘Don’t miss the 10 Best Watercolor Paintings of 2017’ as well as its 2016 list of ‘Ones to Watch.’
The abstract expressionist work of Shaun C. Whiteside of Radford will also be displayed. Whiteside’s favorite medium is acrylic paint. By applying several layers of thin glazes, partially washed away or manipulated, he creates oppressively dense atmospheric environments with organic liquid shapes. Whiteside’s work has been published in several periodicals, including twice in the International Painting Annual (INPA). He has been awarded First Place/Best in Show in several competitions including the Academy Center for the Arts’ 2019 National Juried Art Exhibition and the Floyd Center for the Arts’ 2013 Juried Show.
Complimentary snacks and a cash bar featuring the wines of AmRhein’s Wine Cellars of Bent Mountain, Virginia will be offered.
Once every couple months on a Friday night, Hotel Floyd treats the public to an intimate, colorful reception, featuring curated work by selected regional artists and often highlighted by a local author’s work. These small, lively events are organized and hosted by the Floyd Center for the Arts.
The artwork displayed at the reception will be on sale at Hotel Floyd for two months until the next Hotel Floyd Art Show. The reception and artists’ exhibit have been a partnership between the Floyd Center for the Arts and Hotel Floyd since early 2015.
