The Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts presents "Animal Music: Piano Music Inspired by the Animal Kingdom" with pianist Hsiang Tu on Monday, September 30, 2019 at the Squires Recital Salon on the campus of Virginia Tech.
As part of the Music on Mondays series, Virginia Tech faculty member Hsiang John Tu performs the program.
The New York Times has praised the “eloquent sensitivity” in Tu's performance. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, he debuted in New York at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center as the winner of the Juilliard School Concerto Competition, and returned to the same venue in 2013 as a soloist with the World Civic Orchestra.
He is a recipient of the Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from Juilliard, and recently joined the Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts as an Assistant Professor in piano.
