Description:
The 2019 BraveHeart 5K Run / Walk and One Mile Fun Run will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 starting near the Dedmon Center on the campus of Radford University and will help to kick off the 2019 Radford Highlanders Festival.
Schedule:
• 10:00-10:45 am - Race Day Registration / Check-In
• 11:00 am - 5K starts
• After 5K Ends: One-Mile Fun Run
The 5K and Fun Run course will begin near Radford University’s Dedmon Center at 101 University Drive and the course will run along the riverway.
Runners in kilts are welcome and encouraged to celebrate the area’s Scots Irish heritage. In addition to overall and age and gender group winners, prizes will be awarded as well as the first male and female finishers wearing Highlander garb.
All participants will receive a t-shirt and can participate in the awards ceremony, enjoy free food and beverages and have a chance to win one of the door prizes following the race.
The cost is $25.00 and runners can register online or on race day.

A one-mile fun run will be held immediately following the 5K and is free and open to children and adults of all ages. All participants in the fun run will receive a ribbon.
Proceeds from the event benefit the American Heart Association.
Note: No animals or headphones permitted during the race for safety reasons.
The BraveHeart 5K will kick off a full day of family fun with the Radford Highlanders Festival! The festival that celebrates ‘all things Celtic’ will be held back on the campus of Radford University. For more information on the Highlanders Festival, visit:

The race is being sponsored by Carilion New River Medical Center, Run About Sports and the Radford Visitor’s Center. The race is part of the RunAbout Sports Race Series.
