Description:
The Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley presents the Third Annual Triwizard Tri-Mile Race which will be held virtually starting on Friday, July 31, 2020 through Saturday, August 29, 2020.
Calling all wizards of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin! Literacy Volunteers of the NRV invites you to fly in for this year's race to benefit its adult and family literacy programs. This year’s event will be as invisible as the Invisible Book of Invisibility!
Between July 31st (Harry’s birthday) and August 29th (Hogwarts move-in day), muggles, wizards and 4-legged/1-headed beasts will run or walk three miles through the wizarding world with the option to choose between two journeys:
1. The Invisibility Cloak Quest: Follow your own path through the wizarding world and race three miles your way including your pace, your space (wherever and whenever you choose).
2. The Marauder’s Map Challenge: Venture into the Forbidden Forest of Bisset Park (Radford, VA) and use a map and clues to complete the three-mile course and find the seven Horcruxes to defeat He Who Must Not Be Named. Solve Tom Riddle’s riddles to decode the secret message!
Racers will submit their three-mile times and photos via an online form.
The Potter in the Virtual Park event will feature costume contests (for adults, youth and pets), age group awards, “floo network” prizes, quilt raffle, a house competition and lots of magical swag and fun for all!

Upon registration, racers will receive an email with a letter that includes details of the journey (with links to the Maurader’s Map Quest and clues), a printable customized bib for racing and more fun.

The Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley connects community members who want to strengthen their literacy skills with trained, volunteer tutors. We provide tutoring in both basic literacy (reading and writing) and English as a second language (conversational and basic English skills) to adults in the New River Valley.
We also promote public awareness, cooperative partnerships, information sharing and referrals between literacy programs and communities.
