The Blue Mountain School presents the 12th Annual Floyd Mardi Gras Celebration with live music from Jenny Brooke and Mike Mitchell on Saturday, February 19, 2021 online on Facebook Live.

This year we’re keeping the Mardi Gras fun at home for Blue Mountain School's 12th Annual celebration and school benefit! We have gathered together some of the best parts of Floyd Mardi Gras with a tasty take-home Krewe de Bleu fine-dining feast! The dinner has sold out, but you can still tune into the music, dance the night away, and make a donation to your favorite little school in the woods.

Mike and Jenny have been serving our community, teaching at Floyd Music School for 14 years. During that time, many Blue Mountain School students have learned the love of music with them! Always happy to provide music for community events and celebrations, Mike and Jenny are very much looking forward to performing Jazz Standards, Classical Favorites and Folk Songs for this year's annual Mardi Gras event. Their Livestream will be from the Floyd Music School studio and broadcast on the Floyd Music School Facebook Page from 7:00 pm till 8:30 pm.

Additionally, the Floyd Mardi Gras Costume Contest, hosted by Floyd PFLAG, will be announced online at the end of the live stream concert.

Mike Mitchell is a singer and songwriter from Floyd, VA specializing in the fiddle and violin. Mike plays traditional and contemporary bluegrass music in the southwest Virginia area.

With his effortless vocals, distinctive songwriting, and instrumental prowess, Mike continues to capture audiences and carve out his own place in bluegrass.

Educated at the Western Conservatory of Music in Ontario, Canada, Mike Mitchell began playing the violin at the age of five. His passion for music led him to a string performance major at Youngstown State University, and more than 10 years of national touring with rock and acoustic ensembles.

Aditionally, Mike performs with the acclaimed mountain music group, Blue Moonshine, and Floyd Time.
