Description:
The Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech presents the online event "Virginia Tech's Layered Histories: Inspiring Dialogue Through Public Art" on Monday, April 19, 2021.
Explore four works of public art proposed for commissioning on Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg campus in a virtual discussion with their creators, moderated by Menah Pratt-Clarke, vice president for strategic affairs and diversity.
The four final proposals leverage the relationship between public art and history as means of representation, dialogue, and education to demonstrate the ways historically marginalized communities have and will continue to shape Virginia Tech.
The finalists of the competition include three individual artists and an architectural duo: Carrie Gault, Charlie Brouwer, Elena Manferdini, and Sean Kizy and Amrita Raja.
Admission is free though registration is required.
