The Christiansburg Institute (CI, Inc.) and Montgomery County Community Review Council (MCCRC) presents the program "Reclaiming Our History through Genealogy & Preservation: One Woman’s Story" on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at The Lyric Theatre.
Celebrate Women’s History Month with this event, part of CI, Inc. and MCCRC's cultural preservation speaker series, features Karice Luck-Brimmer, a genealogist with over 20 years of experience. Luck-Brimmer's work explores African American history through genealogy, fostering awareness, acknowledgment, and appreciation for underrepresented communities.
Luck-Brimmer, a Virginia Humanities program associate, will present her findings, emphasizing oral narratives that shape collective heritage. As a public historian, she manages the General Assembly African American Cultural Resources Task Force and is involved in the development of the Danville Research Center for African American History & Culture.
Expect an engaging evening filled with dynamic presentations and discussions.
Admission is free for K-12 students and $3.00 for early bird special tickets through Wednesday, March 20th and $5.00 at the door.
