The Virginia Tech School of Communication presents Pod & Order True Crime Symposium on Friday, November 7, 2025 in 135 Goodwin Hall on the campus of Virginia Tech.
The School of Communication's podcasting class is putting on Pod & Order, a podcasting and true crime symposium, for students and staff to learn more about the true crime podcasting world including insights into crime, cults, and conspiracies. Enjoy a day of chilling tales, expert insights, and killer networking!
The true crime symposium begins with a panel featuring a discussion panel followed by some hands on podcasting workshops.
Panelists include:
• Ron Peterson Jr., Virginia true author and podcaster, whose best-selling book and companion podcast was about the 1980 disappearance and murder investigation of Radford University student Gina Renee Hall.
• Eryk Pruitt, crime fiction author and podcaster who worked on "The Long Dance," an 8-part investigative journalism podcast about the 1971 unsolved murders of young couple Patricia Mann and Jesse McBane in Durham, North Carolina.
• Piper Kessler, Velasquez Media co-founder who has worked on the sound for many podcasts and other media and served as the sound engineer for "The Long Dance".
• James Hawdon, Virginia Tech Department of Sociology
