Blues Traveler (Band)

Biography:

Blues Traveler is an rock band that formed in Princeton, New Jersey in 1987. Blues Traveler were on the vanguard of the jam band scene of the 1990s, the first of their generation to sign to a major label, and one of a handful to experience genuine commercial success.

They burst onto the scene with a trio of gold-selling albums: Blues Traveler [1990], Travelers and Thieves [1991], and Save His Soul [1993]. Blues Traveler had already carved themselves a place within the firmament of modern rock, earning a loyal audience through their sweaty improvs of blues-based rock and coalescing their peers by launching the H.O.R.D.E. Festival in 1992. H.O.R.D.E. illustrated the large audience for jam bands and helped push Blues Traveler toward the top of the charts with their 1994 album Four going platinum six times.

Their catchy "Run-Around" went into the Billboard Top Ten in 1995 and garnered a GRAMMY® Award in the category of “Best Rock Performance By a Duo or Group”. They logged another platinum album with Straight On Till Morning in 1998 and spent the next 20 years selling out shows on multiple continents.

In 2018, Hurry Up & Hang Around kicked off a new era with the guys firing on all cylinders. However, they look back and leap forward on their fourteenth full-length album, Traveler’s Blues [Round Hill Records], a 2021 blues covers album.
