Waking April (Band)
Biography:
Waking April is a three-piece Indie synthpop band from Raleigh, NC. Fresh from recording their 2nd studio EP, “Bones” takes the trio in a synthpop direction while maintaining the band’s indie roots. Their dedicated musicality enables them to embrace unconventional instrumentation without losing the core of Waking April’s sound: the strong voices of Joy, Bethany and Alex and how they blend together to form something lush, harmonically rich and unique.
Joy, Bethany and Alex all met as children in a theater company and stayed in touch over the years but never would have imagined how deep their friendships would eventually become. All three band members were taught piano by Alex’s parents, all three went to the same university and all three shared the same views on politics and cats, yet it was over a decade after meeting until they started making music together.
Bethany and Alex started playing together as a duo in 2015. Joy was in between bands at the time and started singing occasionally with them. Bethany and Alex quickly realized how natural it felt with Joy in the mix and started sharing the stage with her more and more until all three agreed that making music as a trio was the only option that made any sense anymore.
