RU Outdoors offers a Day Hike in the New River Valley on Sunday, April 18, 2021 with a registration deadline of Thursday, April 15, 2021. The trip location and further details will be released during the pre-trip meeting. We usually do not have a set location for out trip until the week before as we see what the weather is and what our participants want to do. All Outdoor Programs trips for the Spring 2021 semester will be "Park & Play" trips. This means you will be responsible for transportation to and from the program location as well as providing your own meals. Don’t worry all of the equipment and instruction will still be provided. Outdoor Program trips are geared toward the beginner and intermediate participant. Each of our trips is all inclusive. We provide equipment and instruction. Our trips are designed with you in mind. We focus on teaching skills that you want to learn, foster an enjoyable experience based on the expectations and discussions we have in our pre-trip meeting, and provide a supportive environment to facilitate the experience. Our trips are open to non-student guests (general public) as well as faculty and staff. Individuals who are not enrolled at Radford University as a student must pay the list price when registering for a trip. All open enrollment trip participants must be at least 18 years of age or 16 with parental/ guardian consent. All pre-trip meetings will be hosted via Zoom. An email with a Zoom meeting number will be sent to your email within one business day from your registration. During this virtual pre-trip we will discuss what clothing or personal gear you will need to bring, our suggested food list, anticipated weather, what to expect, direction to the trip location and other logistics. In addition you will get to meet your fellow trip mates and talk about your trip expectations. Please bring your mask or face covering to the trip. Although we will be physically distanced during these programs there are times when wearing face coverings will be required.
