The YMCA at Virginia Tech presents Welcoming Week with their final event the Welcome Festival on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Market Square Park in downtown Blacksburg, VA. Event Schedule: • 1:00 PM: Meditation with Rav • 1:05 PM: YMCA at VT CEO Ryan Martin & Blacksburg Mayor Leslie Hager-Smith • 1:15 PM: Itrab Music Ensemble • 1:45 PM: Hoorah Cloggers • 2:30 PM: Family Friendly Games with Dance.tech • 3:00 PM: Salsa with Marina - Dream Dance & Fitness LLC • 3:30 PM: Radia Lu with Jenni Li & Henry Teng of Blacksburg Chinese School • 3:45 PM: Yoga with Rav The Welcome Festival is an outdoor festival that brings together world cuisines, music and dance to welcome international newcomers to highlight the cultural diversity of our region. The festival features food, music, entertainment, family fun and more! Food will be available by Beat Bangkok and Hawla Bakery. The YMCA at Virginia Tech, along with local partners, will host a week of activities for Welcoming Week, September 10-19, 2021. Welcoming Week is a national celebration that brings together immigrants and U.S.-born residents at community-based events to promote cross-cultural understanding and raise awareness of the benefits of welcoming everyone! Admission is free and all are welcome. Attendees are encouraged to wear face coverings and maintain social distancing at all events. The YMCA at Virginia Tech in partnership with the Town of Blacksburg, Blacksburg Library, Blacksburg Museum & Cultural Foundation, Blacksburg Newcomers Club and Literacy Volunteers of the NRV are hosting a week of activities for Welcoming Week.
