Description: Wilderness Road Regional Museum presents 2021 Spirits Along the Wilderness Road Wagon Ride on Sunday, October 24, 2021.

A good history lesson doesn't have to be scary! Join us for the annual "Spirits Along the Wilderness Road Wagon Ride". The horse drawn wagon ride will transport guests back in time to learn history from the "Spirits" of those who once trod the Wilderness Road.

Each 30 minute horse drawn wagon load will travel back to the Colonial time and journey through the post Civil War days of Newbern, along the way you will learn from "spirits" such as Colonel William Christian, Henry Hance, Letitia Preston Floyd, Colonel Rutherford B. Hayes, Benjamin Franklin Wysor, Mary Draper Ingles, Lt. Daniel Howe, and so many more.

Enjoy fresh baked pear butter cookies, mulled cider made from local heritage apples, and take your hand at making besoms and corn shuck dolls, before and after your time travel and wagon ride.

Wagons will leave every 30 minutes starting at 3:00 PM with the last ride leaving at 6:30 PM.

The cost is $15.00 per rider.

Reservations are required along with the requested donation.

To register online, visit: https://givebutter.com/UfWd4h. Email wrrm5240@gmail.com after registering to select your scheduled wagon ride time.

All donations help support our continued education outreach at the museum and are very much appreciated and utilized.

Due to the horses and spirits busy schedules, a rain date and refund on donations are not guaranteed.

All aspects of the Spirits Along the Wilderness Road are family friendly and educational in purpose and content.
