The Floyd Center for the Arts presents the 2022 Floyd Plein Air Biennial Public Gala Celebration and Art Sale as part of the 3rd Floyd Plein Air Biennial on Saturday, August 20, 2022. All are welcome to join us at The Floyd Center for the Arts to celebrate the culmination of the festival, view and purchase artwork created during the week. Food and soft beverages will be provided and a Cash Bar will be open with the proceeds to benefit The Floyd Center for the Arts. Patron are invited to a private Collector’s Reception from 5:00-6:00 PM at The Center. Patron passes will allow early access to view and purchase the artists’ paintings created during the week, as well as early access to mingle with artists with complimentary beverages and food. The Floyd Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the 3rd Floyd Plein Air Biennial, the week-long outdoor painting festival, to take place at sites in and around Floyd County starting on Monday, August 15, 2022 through Saturday, August 20, 2022. Admission is free and all are welcome. Patron tickets are available for purchase and grant access to special patron events during the week. Patron tickets are $100.00 per person. This will be the third time the Center has invited and hosted a field of regional and national artists as part of this Biennial Event. Having taken a year off due to the pandemic, the Center is excited to bring artists back to paint. Artists will enjoy painting the Blue Ridge Parkway, the famed Buffalo Mountain, unique sites along the beautiful Little River, local farms and vistas, as well as the Town of Floyd. Events include artist demos, an Artist/Patron Night including Wet Paint Sale, Quick Draw Contest at the Historic Floyd Country Store & Friday Night Jamboree, art sale and reception! Abingdon resident and nationally renowned plein air artist Kyle Buckland will act as the event judge. Currently a resident artist at The William King Museum of Art in Abingdon, Kyle’s unique painting style has garnered him many awards and acclaim, and in 2021 he was inducted into the prestigious Plein Air Painters of the Southeast.
