UPDATE: Due to the weather forecast of rain, we're sad to announce the cancellation of Community Day. The Virginia Tech Police Department presents their Annual Community Day on Saturday, September 23, 2023 on the Virginia Tech Drillfield. Students, employees, and the general public are invited to attend to learn more about the nationally-accredited police department and enjoy activities for all ages. Highlights of the event include: • K-9 Demonstrations: Witness the skills of our K-9 teams. • Donut-Eating Challenge: Test your donut-eating abilities in a friendly competition. • Dunk-A-Police Officer: If you have the accuracy, you can dunk an officer. • Drunk Google Carts: Simulate driving under the influence. In addition to these exciting activities, our dedicated Virginia Tech Rescue Squad will collaborate with the Virginia Tech Police Department, Blacksburg Fire, Christiansburg Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and Lifeguard in a mock DUI simulation, providing real-life insight into the dangers of drunk driving starting at 11:00 AM. Participants will also have the opportunity to view demonstrations from a wide variety of both Virginia Tech and regional first responder organizations. Admission is free.
