FIRST Chesapeake District presents a FIRST Tech Challenge Tournament and on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Christiansburg Middle School. In FIRST Tech Challenge, teams with 5-15 team members in grades 7-12, are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format in this district qualifier tournament. The 2023-2024 Season theme is "Centerstage" about moving hexagon pixels under riggings or a stage door to a backdrop to create height and mosaics. Teams are evaluated not only on robot performance, but their STEM outreach, control system, an engineering notebook, and a concept FIRST robotics calls gracious professionalism. In addition, NRV Robotics will hosts a FIRST Lego League Explore Expo from 1:00-3:00 PM during the tournament. FIRST Lego League Explore Expo provide an opportunity for teams comprised of children ages 5-8 to showcase their work, meet other teams, and celebrate. Using Lego and simple robots to explain their creative ideas to problem of trying to engage more people in art. Spectators are welcome and admission is free. Volunteers are also needed for the tournament. Christiansburg Middle School is located at 1205 Buffalo Drive in Christiansburg, VA.
