The Wilderness Road Regional Museum presents the Annual Newbern Founder's Day Event on Sunday, March 28, 2021 from noon to 4:00 pm.

Enjoy living History, craft demonstrations, "Tavern" Catfish prepared by Patty's Kitchen of Dublin, 4-Legged Mayor results, cultural dance representing homelands of the early settlers of the Newbern and the New River Valley.

Newbern was planned along the Great Wagon Road and was a thriving village and crossroads for many early settlers and their cultures. These early citizens and the village they formed is the why we mark Founders Day each year.

Horse Drawn wagon tours of the Historic Village will also be available starting every 30 minutes by advance reservation for a $10.00 donation. The rest of the outdoor activities are free to enjoy.

Food will also be available by donation. $1.00 donations will get you a drink or fresh baked springerle cookies, $8.00 donations will get you a serving of catfish with a fresh cornbread muffin or $10.00 donations gets you the entire Tavern lunch. These options will be at the museum starting at 1:30 pm and enjoyed outside.
