NOTE: Due to a band cancellation and cold weather forecast, this week's planned premiere of the 2021 Friday Night Backyard Jamboree series will be delayed a week until Friday, April 9th with The Little Stony Nighthawks.

The Floyd Country Store premeires the 2021 Friday Night Backyard Jamboree with The Black Twig Pickers outside on Friday, April 2, 2021.

The Backyard Jamboree is back! Kicking things off for 2021 is one of our favorite old time bands from Southwest Virginia. The Black Twig Pickers will join us for a special event celebrating the release of their new album "Friend's Peace".

Banjos and fiddles, boards and bones in hand, the Black Twig Pickers dove into a living tradition of old-time music that surrounds their homes in Southwest Virginia and never looked back. Acoustic music, played acoustically. Enjoy old-time stringband music from Black Twig Pickers, known for a forward-leaning take on traditional sounds, tours of the USA and Europe and a string of albums on Thrill Jockey, VHF and other labels.

Both scholars of the regional sounds and advocates of an ecstatic and highly personal approach to the music, the Twigs hold down local dance and bar gigs, play all manner of celebrations and every so often, hit the road.

Admission is free with a suggested donation of $8.00 in support of the musicians.

Join us on Friday evenings behind the Floyd Country Store for a live show with some of our favorite old time string bands! The Backyard Jamboree features one band performing for two hours starting at 6:00 pm.

The entrance is located down the alley between the Floyd Country Store and Angels In The Attic. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets.

Seating opens at 5:30 pm and the music starts at 6:00 pm.

No dogs allowed, no alcohol allowed. You will be required to wear face masks when moving around the space. You may remove your mask while in your chair.

These concerts are contingent upon good weather. If we have rain or thunderstorms, the events will be canceled.
