The Montgomery Museum of Art & History presents an Opening Reception for the new Art Exhibit "eARTh" by Diane Relf on Friday, July 9, 2021.

See the Museum's first indoor/outdoor art installation combo as artist and rust connoisseur Diane Relf presents her exhibit "eARTh". Enjoy the unique opportunity to enjoy art integrating natural materials with found or recycled objects.

From Artist Diane Relf:
My art is about finding discarded objects and manipulating them to explore their potential; then combining these new objects into statements of appreciation of the mundane. It questions the validity of a throwaway society, the value of always needing new, and the perfection of machinery precision. It celebrates the daily detritus that has lost its meaning and gives it a new opportunity to open eyes and minds. Most of my work is never quite finished as I add to and embellish it as long as I own it. Experimenting with new materials and techniques, solving problems and making things up as I go are essential elements of art for me.

I really make my art for me. To me, art is a means of making personal sense of my environment and expressing this sense in a tangible fashion. …. which takes the physical elements that surround me and, by combining them into completely new and unexpected partnerships, produces new insights. Or at the very least produces a smile or a chuckle for the viewer!! It makes me happy when others appreciate my art. But I remain concerned when I see the potential of my directing what I want to make to what someone else might want to buy. I try to make my work remain an expression not a transaction.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

The exhibit will be on display from July 1st to August 31, 2021.
