Description:
The Town of Floyd wraps up its 4th Annual Floyd Small Town Summer series featuring music from No BS! Brass Band and Shayna Steele on Thursday, August 26, 2021 outside at Warren G. Lineberry Memorial Park.
The Town of Floyd offers this series of free events to provide a fun, family-friendly atmosphere in downtown Floyd, VA. The events take place on alternating Thursdays from mid-June to the end of August and feature music and movies with lots of additional activities provided to highlight the park and community organizations.
Based in Richmond, Virginia, No BS! Brass Band has quickly earned a reputation as a premiere band to see for heart-pounding energy and uncontrollable dancing. They take their music into uncharted territory, embracing the spirit of New Orleans into its original East Coast modern funk and fearlessly combining elements of James Brown, John Coltrane, Michael Jackson, and Led Zeppelin into their fiercely original sound.
Founders Reggie Pace and Lance Koehler have cast this 11-piece band in which nearly every member has had conservatory training, holding various degrees in music. In putting together the compositions and arrangements, the “b.s.” has been stripped to give the audience something solid, unique, organic, real, and powerful. They have the look of New Orleans with the raw sound all their own -- music is a true definition of the “Richmond sound.”

https://www.instagram.com/nobsbrass/Shayna Steele is the kind of singer you wonder why you've never heard of, but once you do, you'll never forget her. "That's probably the number one complaint I get at the merchandise table. How come I've never heard of you?" Steele says.
One of the greatest singing sensations of our time, known from recordings with Snarky Puppy and Moby and a host of other stars. Shayna has performed with the likes of Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson, Bette Midler and Steely Dan as a sought after background vocalist.
With a voice that the London Jazz News says "unleashes enough voltage to light up the West End", Steele has made her mark as an in-demand vocalist on stage and in the studio. After spending 8 years as a Broadway ensemble member in shows such as Rent and Hairspray and 6 years in the background supporting artists like Bette Midler, Rihanna, and Kelly Clarkson, Shayna stepped out on her own with the release of her 3rd studio album Watch Me Fly (Must Have/Membran) following the huge success of her album Rise (Ropeadope Records) in 2015 which reached #3 on the U.S. iTunes jazz charts. Her self-penned song "Gone Under" from that same album was personally selected by Michael League of Snarky Puppy to be arranged for their Family Dinner, Volume 1(Ropeadope Records). The song and Shayna's performance was the first single to be released on the Grammy Award-winning band's album, which has now reached over 1.7 million views on YouTube to date.
