Description:
The Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts - Music Department presents Virginia Tech Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band performing the concert 'Visible Nature' on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 inside the Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech.
The Virginia Tech Wind Ensemble welcomes Assistant Professor of Percussion Annie Stevens, percussion, and Assistant Professor of Clarinet Yevgeny Dokshansky, clarinet, to the stage performing Michael Burritt’s jazz-inspired "Duo Concertante." Gala Flagello’s new work for concert band, "Visible Nature," highlights different sections of the ensemble as the voices of nature and humankind, tracing a cycle of building and crumbling, reflection and transformation. Steven Bryant’s massive piece "The Automatic Earth" assaults the senses with sight and sound in his musical portrayal of the ongoing climate catastrophe.
The Symphony Band, under the direction of Chad Reep, will also perform on the concert.
Tickets are $10.00 for the general public and $7.00 for students.
For the safety of our audiences and performers, masks are currently required for attendance at all School of Performing Arts indoor events, regardless of vaccination status.
