Healing Arts at Merc Farm presents part one of the program "So You Want To Be A Beekeeper..." in the Genesis Room at the Draper Mercantile on Saturday, March 5, 2022.

Join an introductory workshop on what it takes to be a successful beekeeper. Our instructor, Dave Jersey, is a member of the New River Valley Beekeepers Association and has been beekeeping for over nine years.

Topics include:
• Selecting the right wooden frame beehive
• Protective equipment
• Optimal placement of your hives
• What to expect in your first year
• Where to get bees
• What do do once you have bees

We will also talk about protecting your bees from animals, pets and children as well as "beeing" a good neighbor.

This is a three day workshop separated in two parts. Part two of the workshop will be held on Saturday, April 2nd and Sunday, April 3rd.

Part One of the workshop is $30.00 per person.
