The VT Choirs, VT Philharmonic, Blacksburg Master Chorale, and Blacksburg Children's Chorale present the world premiere of Dwight Bigler's new composition, "Mosaic for Earth" on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the Moss Arts Center.

The performance is highly collaborative and features a mosaic of performers from across the country, telling stories from all walks of life throughout history with an emphasis on protecting the planet. This new work celebrates the wonders of nature and explores humanity's impact on the environment and responsibility towards it.

Two hundred and fifty musicians will fill the stage to perform this world premiere which includes lyrics by leading environmental authors. The concert will include three large screens surrounding the orchestra and choirs to provide an immersive visual component. The visual arts projections were designed by Virginia Tech’s David Franusich and the stunning illuminations by Barbara Wolff. The movie soundtrack-esque piece is organized with adapted psalms celebrating nature interspersed with movements that provide glimpses into the human impact on these natural areas.

The concert will feature special guest soloists Danielle Talamantes (VT alumna and Metropolitan Opera soprano), Jami Rhodes (mezzo soprano), Isaac Hurtado (tenor) and Christopher Holmes (baritone).

Tickets are $20.00 for the general public and $10.00 for students and seniors.
