The Fine Arts Center has the unique opportunity to feature the eight award-winning musicians in a free concert as they prepare for their final performance in New York. The concert will be an intimate salon concert featuring performances on piano, guitar, flute, accordion, and a world-class whistler. The smaller venue at the Fine Arts Center will provide a more intimate setting in which to experience the talents of these eight diverse musicians.
Each year the Italian city of Ragusa-Ibla hosts the IBLA Grand Prize World Music Competition that is open to merely all instruments, vocalists and composers with a focus on classical music. Musicians are encouraged to present the music they love the most and that represents their music vision. There is no age limit. The 31-year-old competition showcases some of the world’s best musicians competing for a spot to tour with other IBLA winners throughout the United States.
This year the concert will feature performers pianist Tamara Licheli, whistler Michael Barimo, guitar Maria Criscione, composer Giampiero Bugliarello, piano improv Alexander Kato-Willis, flutist Haruna Furukawa, piano Armando Sabbarese and accordion Luigi Gordano.
The original competition was founded at Radford University in 1981 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Hungarian composer Bela Bartók's birth. After being renamed several times along with a change in venue from Virginia to Italy, the annual competition continues as the “IBLA Grand Prize” in Ragusa-IBLA, Sicily.
Admission is free and open to the public through tickets must be reserved in advance at

The IBLA Grand Prize Performance Tour will conclude at New York City’s Carnegie Hall with tickets starting at $300.00 each. However, those attending the Fine Arts Center performance will get to see and interact with these supremely talented musicians for free.
The Fine Arts Center is located at 21 West Main Street in historic downtown Pulaski, VA.
