Description:
The Floyd County Sheriff's Office and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries presents the 2022 Floyd County Kid's Fishing Day for ages 13 and younger on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Little River along the Thunderstruck Road Low Water Bridge in Floyd, VA.
Schedule:
• 9:00-10:30 AM: Late Registration
• 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM: Fishing
• 1:00 PM: Awards Ceremony
Children ages 13 and younger can enjoy fishing, awards, and a free lunch will be served at noon. Participants need to bring their own bait and tackle for fishing. None of these will be provided.
Trophies will be awarded for the top three largest trout in three ages categories (5 & Under, ages 6-10 and ages 11-13).
There is a six fish limit per child. No trout may be thrown back for a different one. All fish must be weighed by 1:00 PM.
Pre-registration is strongly recommended though day of registration will be available.
This is a free event however donations are appreciated.
All children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults cannot fish. This will be strictly enforced. Adults can assist by baiting the hook or removing fish from the line.
While only children ages 13 & younger are allowed to fish, the entire family is welcome to attend.
Please bring lawn chairs and something to safely transport your fish home like an ice chest. Shoes are required while fishing.
No swimming will be allowed and no parking will be allowed in or on the road.
All state laws and DGIF regulations apply and will be enforced.
