The Town of Floyd kicks off its 5th Annual Floyd Small Town Summer series featuring music from the Jim Lauderdale Band and The Floorboards on Thursday, June 9, 2022 outside at Warren G. Lineberry Memorial Park.
The Town of Floyd offers this series of free events to provide a fun, family-friendly atmosphere in downtown Floyd, VA. Featuring music, movies, face-painting, inflatables, games, food and beverage and special activities presented by a variety of community organizations! The events take place on alternating Thursdays from mid-June to the beginning of September.
Jim Lauderdale is a two-time Grammy winning Americana icon, a singer-songwriter whose unmistakable rhinestone-incrusted silhouette has been a symbol for creative integrity and prolificacy for 34 albums over decades of recording and has taken home the Americana Music Association’s coveted Wagonmaster Award.
He’s an A-list Nashville songwriter whose songs have ruled the country charts while recording an eclectic catalogue of albums that run the gamut of American roots styles. He’s been a vital part of the country music ecosystem since 1991, when he released his debut album and began penning songs and working for an impressively long roster of country music greats including Ralph Stanley, Robert Hunter, Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, John Oates, Lea Ann Womack, Old Crow Medicine Show and more.

The Floorboards artfully marry rock n' roll and country roots music with the sights and sounds of southern mountain towns.
The Floorboards have quickly become a staple in the Southeast and are branching out with purpose. Having co-billed with bands such as Trampled By Turtles, Yarn, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Royal Southern Brotherhood, Laura Reed, and performed at venues and festivals in the southeast along side Drive by Truckers, Jackson Brown, Allison Krauss and Union Station, the band is picking up steam like the 611.

The Small Town Summer Event Series is free and open to the public.
Grab your lawn chair and/or blanket.
Gates will be open and access provided to the public starting at 6:00 PM on all Floyd Small Town Summer events. Movies will begin when the sun goes down.
