The Calfee Community & Cultural Center, Pulaski County Library System and Wilderness Road Regional Museum presents 2022 Pulaski County Juneteenth Celebration on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at the Wilderness Road Regional Museum.

- Cornbread Tasting Competition
• 3:30-5:00 PM:
- Live Gospel Music from The Glorylanders
- Storytelling about Pulaski County
- Military Re-enactment of the Juneteenth Announcment
- Firing Squad Salute
Join us to celebrate freedom and learn more about Juneteenth and the history of enslaved people in Pulaski County and Southwest Virginia. Bring the family to enjoy live music from The Glorylanders, interactive storytelling, historical interpretations, a cornbread tasting contest, military reenactments, children’s book giveaways (while supplies last) and more!
Juneteenth, also called Freedom Day, commemorates June 19, 1865, the day that the last enslaved Black persons in the confederate states were informed that slavery had been abolished, legally making them American citizens.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Entry to the Pulaski County Juneteenth Celebration is free.
Everyone is welcome to celebrate Juneteenth and we hope you’ll bring your friends and family!
While Juneteenth has traditionally been seen as an African American holiday, national awareness has increased since 2021, when it was declared a legal public holiday in the United States. We are excited to observe Juneteenth here in Pulaski County with a celebration open to all.
