The Montgomery-Radford-Floyd NAACP branch 7092 presents the 2022 Juneteenth "Celebrating Freedom" on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Rosa Peters Playground in Christiansburg, VA.

Join us in our celebration of Juneteenth! There will be DJ, local talent, community booths and more. The pool will also be open and provide free swimming for children. Community organizations will also have booths sharing information.

There will be hot dogs, burgers, snacks, drinks and a 50/50 raffle available for purchase. And, there will be free ice cream for all children.

The name Juneteenth is a contraction of June 18th and 19th, which were the dates in 1865 that the last slaves in Galveston, Texas found out that the Civil War was over and they had been freed. Celebrations all over the nation commemorate African American freedom and celebrate education and achievement.

Juneteenth is an event and fundraiser for and by the Youth Council of the MRF NAACP. Co-Sponsored by the Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County branches of the NAACP.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

Rosa Peters Playground is located at 300 Depot in Christiansburg, Virginia.
