Description:
The Town of Blacksburg presents the Ribbon Cutting for New Blacksburg Police Station on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.
The Town of Blacksburg will officially cut the ribbon on its new, $16 million, state of the art, police station (the William H. Brown Building). Remarks will begin promptly at 10:00 AM, followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony and light refreshments.
The current 14,000 square foot facility, located at 200 Clay Street, S.W., was built in 1982 to accommodate 25 officers and staff. Since then, the Department has more than tripled in size with no cost-effective options for adding on to the existing building footprint.
The new police station, located at 200 East Clay Street is a modern and safe facility, offering 37,000 square feet for police operations. The building will also include a 100-seat community room for meetings and various public uses, as well as the first of its kind in Virginia, training center named after Chief Anthony Wilson, who retires in July after 25 years with the Blacksburg Police Department.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
Parking is available at the Blacksburg Municipal Building at 300 S. Main Street, or along Eheart and Church Streets.
