Description:
Gearheads For A Cause presents a Car, Truck & Bike Show as a Tribute to Former U.S Marshall Reginald Carter Jr. on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Harvey Chevrolet Buick in Radford, VA.
Reginald Crockett, is the nephew of Reginald Carter Jr. and is the one who asked Gearheads For A Cause to set this show up. Here is a letter he provided to give you some insight into his uncle.
Reginald Carter, Jr. was born and raised in Bluefield, VA. He volunteered into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, became a paratrooper and was later a guard at Spandau Prison in West Germany, where Hitler’s Deputy Fuhrer, Rudolf Hess, was a prisoner. After the Army, he became a U.S. Capitol police officer, and then went on to join the U.S. Marshals Service as a Deputy United States Marshal. There he served for approximately 20 years, before retiring as a special investigator.
Reg never bragged and he seldom spoke of his military or law enforcement exploits. But, the one story that he did tell me was when he captured a high ranking member of the Mexican Mafia, by pretending to be one of the fellow’s long, lost acquaintances. After the capture and trial, as my uncle was walking the man to the plane that would take him to prison for probably the rest of his life, he turned to my uncle and said, "you treated me decent… and I respect you for that". To me, that said a lot about the man that my uncle Reg was.
Reg was like a second father to me, as well as like an older brother. In addition to westerns, a love of horsepower and cool cars is something that we shared until he left this earth. The Buick Grand National featured at this cruise-in was his pride and joy. He will long be missed, but it is my sincere pleasure to share it with my fellow gearheads and bring his favorite automobile back to life and honor his memory.
In sight of how significant diecast and hot wheel cars were to the two them, we are asking for kids to bring their favorite hot wheel or diecast car to race. We will have two tracks set up and we can see who has the fastest car.
We will also be doing a large raffle with raffle tickets on sale for $1.00 each along with door prizes. All prizes have been donated by local businesses. All proceeds will be benefit the Agape Center NRV and will be matched up to $1,000.
As always, no registration or admission fees to enter the show.
Vendors on-site include Gigi's Cupcakes, All Ability Troop 123 with hotdogs and hamburgers and Amsoil Greenway Distribution.
All are welcome.
Harveys is located at 1500 Tyler Avenue in Radford, VA.
