2022 YMCA at Virginia Tech Welcoming Week: Youth Art Exhibit & Contest Drop-Off

The YMCA at Virginia Tech continues their Welcoming Week events with the Youth Art Exhibit & Contest Drop-Off on Thursday, September 8, 2022 through Saturday, September 10, 2022.
Art is everywhere and can be a prominent aspect of our lives. The youth art exhibition and competition’s theme, “Welcoming and Belonging,” ties into “Welcoming Week” by promoting positivity and diversity in our community. We hope that this exhibition will display appreciation and kind regard to everyone in our community, no matter where they are from.
We wanted to give the opportunity for creative youth to submit artwork demonstrating their enjoyment and talent in the activity.
Drop off your artwork at the Blacksburg Library during their business hours on these days:
• Thursday, September 8th from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM
• Friday, September 9th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Saturday, September 10th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
You will be asked to write the title of your artwork, your name, and a parent’s email when you drop it off at the circulation desk.
All school aged children are welcome to participate. Each contestant can submit only one artwork.
All art work must be original, without the use of previously created materials. It must comply with the theme of Belonging. Anything that does not comply with these standards will risk disqualification.

You can visit the art exhibition at the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library-Blacksburg Library starting on Thursday, September 15th until the end of October. Thank you to the MFRL-Blacksburg Library for partnering with us.
Winners will be notified by Saturday, September 17th. Prizes will be given and announcements of the winners will be made during the Welcoming Festival event on Sunday, September 18th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Blacksburg Market Square.
