Description:
Jessie Peterman Library presents a Reading and Discussion with Bill Glose on Saturday, September 17, 2022.

Bill Glose will read from and talk about the Pulitzer Prize nominated, "All the Ruined Men" (which The Christian Science Monitor named One of the Ten Best Books of August). He will also read a poem from his collection, "Postscript to War".

In 2011 Mr. Glose was named the Daily Press Poet Laureate and in 2017 he was featured by NPR on The Writer’s Almanac. His fifth book of poetry, "Postscript to War", was a finalist for the Library of Virginia Book Award.

A combat veteran and former paratrooper, Bill Glose has written hundreds of articles for magazines and numerous stories, poems, and essays for literary journals. He also has taught writing workshops at writers’ conferences, colleges, high schools, prisons, and pretty much anywhere offering an inquisitive audience. Other honors include the F. Scott Fitzgerald Short Story Award and the Dateline Award for Excellence in Journalism. His website includes a page of helpful information for writers at http://www.billglose.com/.

About The Book:
Many war books have been written about horrific battles and the terrible decisions soldiers must make during combat. This one explores how difficult and confusing it can be afterwards to come back home. "All the Ruined Men" is a book of linked short stories about veterans struggling to adjust to civilian life after years of war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
