The 3rd Annual Blacksburg Food Cycle will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 ending at Rising Silo Farm Brewery.
The Blacksburg Food Cycle is a bike-powered food drive where participants bike around town to buy groceries for those in need with 100% of the donations benefitting Micah's Backpack and the Pulaski County Free Store.
A Food Cycle is a food drive on two wheels. It’s like a bike race, charity event, and goofy afternoon of fun all rolled into one. Grab your bike and bike to grocery stores around town to buy non-perishable groceries for donation. Then take the Huckleberry Trail out to Rising Silo to drop-off your donations.
The food cycle starts wherever you are at 1:00 PM on Saturday. We suggest the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library in Blacksburg if you’re looking for a place to begin. The food cycle starts whenever you hop on your bike. We will send each participant their own shopping list on the day of the event to ensure we get all the goods our partners need. Once the items on your list have been purchased head to Rising Silo Brewery where your donated goods will be collected and dish out some dope prizes!
The awards ceremony will commence around ~4:30 PM.
Prizes Awarded:
• Costume Contest: Be one of the first 5 cyclists to show up in costume.
• Heaviest Load: Weigh your donations at drop-off. The heaviest load donated by a single cyclist wins.
• Froggy Selfie: Take a selfie with any of the 16 adorable frog statues around Blacksburg during the ride for a chance to win.
• Kroger Triple Crown: Bike to all three Kroger's in the Blacksburg & Christiansburg area and show your receipts from each for verification and a chance to win.
The Blacksburg Food Cycle is a totally free event. You’ll spend money on the items you’ll donate, but how much you spend is up to you. Items on the shopping list are estimated to cost between $15.00-$30.00.

Costumes are welcome and there will be a costume contest.
The event is rain or shine.
Note: We are also accepting donations by car if you do not wish to cycle however prizes are only for bicyclists.
