Description:
Little River Bluegrass Barn presents Russell Moore & IIIrd Time Out with opener Deeper Shade of Blue in concert on Friday, November 4, 2022.
Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out celebrate over 25 years of making ground-breaking music. Russell Moore is the International Bluegrass Music Association’s most awarded male vocalist, taking home the award a record five times. As journalist Jon Weisberger recently stated, "…it’s more than just longevity that gets Russell Moore’s name out front. The man is, to put it simply, one of the finest singers you’ll ever hear, and he makes it seem positively effortless."
Joined by four unequivocally talented musicians with Wayne Benson on mandolin, Justen Haynes on fiddle, Keith McKinnon on banjo, and Jerry Cole on bass, this band continues to bring fresh music to the ears while staying true to the tradition that has made them an industry favorite for over two decades.
In 1994, they earned the first of an unsurpassed seven consecutive IBMA awards for Vocal Group of the Year, along with Russell’s first Male Vocalist of the Year title. For the remainder of the decade and into the new century, IIIrd Tyme Out was among the most important acts in the field, earning acclaim for the compelling artistry, especially vocal, they brought both to a string of well-received albums and to stages across the United States.

https://www.youtube.com/user/iiirdtymeout1/videosNorth Carolina can once again be credited for producing great bluegrass. Hailing from just east of Charlotte, Deeper Shade of Blue is comprised of Jason Fraley (mandolin/vocals), Troy Pope (guitar/vocals), Frank Poindexter (dobro/vocals), Scott Burgess (bass/vocals), and Steve Wilson (banjo).
The band has been together for more than 20 years and self-produced six albums. A quick search on YouTube will no doubt prove why this band has been a favorite in their region for so long. With their tight harmony singing, dynamic instrumentation and energetic stage show, they’ve been lauded as one of the best touring groups in the industry and one that festivals have added to their lineup year after year.
