The Virginia Tech Perspective Gallery, located within the Squires Student Center, presents the Opening Reception for "Beyond Words: The Legacy of Suzi Gablik" on Friday, November 4, 2022.
Join us for a reception for the exhibit "Beyond Words: The Legacy of Suzi Gablik". Perspective Gallery presents an exhibit exploring the influence of art critic and artist, Suzi Gablik (1934 - 2022) on the contemporary social practice arts movement. The exhibit highlights the early, prescient collage work of Suzi Gablik juxtaposed with handwritten excerpts of her writing. See Gablik's collage and oil artworks that preceded her writing career.
There will be a talk at 5:30 PM titled "The Importance of Ritual" by Fern Shaffer, an eco feminist artist featured in Gablik's book "The Reenchantment of Art".
Refreshments will be provided.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The exhibit will be on display from November 1st through December 14th.
Gallery hours are Monday from 6:00-9:00 PM, Tuesday-Saturday from 12:00-9:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00-5:00 PM.
