Description:
New River Community College's Concert Series presents a Free Music Event featuring The Java Brothers and The New Ballard's Branch Bogtrotters on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at New River Community College's Edwards Hall located on their Dublin, VA campus.
The Java Brothers bluegrass band was born out of Radford’s Monday Night Fiddle & Banjo Jam. The Java Brothers mix standard bluegrass and newgrass with fiery original tunes in their live shows. They are progressive, but pretty much only to the extent that they'll play new songs as hard driving bluegrass with some rock 'n roll vibes.
Their musical influences include Bill Monroe, Stanley Brothers, Jimmy Martin, Old and In the Way, The Seldom Scene, Sam Bush, Tony Rice, JD Crowe, The Country Gentlemen, The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Doyle Lawson.
The Java Brothers have become Radford’s house band however they’ve played dances, festivals, brew pubs, and church services all over Southwest Virginia.

https://www.reverbnation.com/javabrothersAbout 25 years ago a group of musicians from the Galax, VA area formed a new band. The New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters took their name, in part from the original Bogtrotters of the 1930's also because band leader Dennis Hall lives on Ballards Branch. They won the very first fiddlers Convention in Galax setting a precedence for all that follow in their footsteps.
The New Ballard's Branch Bogtrotters continue to play in the traditional Appalachian string-band style often playing for square dances around the region. Old time music is alive and well, and continues to attract fans of all ages. The New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters remain a driving force in carrying the traditional music of the Virginia/Carolina Blue Ridge into the new millennium. It is our hope to be an inspiration for future generations of mountain musicians!
