The Handmade Music School and Springhouse presents "Passing Down Tradition: A Collaborative Give Local Event" on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at The Floyd Country Store.

The Handmade Music School and Springhouse are joining forces to celebrate our shared values of community and passing on life-giving culture through mentoring, tradition, music, dance, education, and art for Give Local 2023.

We will gather at The Floyd Country Store and feature our students and teachers from Handmade Music School and Springhouse’s print shop, Sourced Press, demonstrating how we share these traditions together. We will feature music and dance traditions, the art of printing, and stories about how we “pass it on” through mentoring and education.

Sourced Press will offer a demo and opportunity to create your own print with the message, “pass it on” and original illustration from a local artist.

Admission is free though donations are greatly appreciated.

Handmade Music School strives to cultivate and strengthen community through experiences in music, dance, art, and food rooted in our Appalachian traditions. Handmade Music School’s philosophy is to “hand down” songs and dances from teacher to student, phrase-by-phrase, and step by step -- the way they’ve been taught in the Blue Ridge Mountains for centuries.

Springhouse is the home of Sourced Design. The school at Springhouse provides a place where teens and adults can practice Sourced Design and living in a way that takes care of Life. We also share our design with people from all over the world who seek to create culture with Life at the center.
