Description:
The Virginia Tech Perspective Gallery, located within the Squires Student Center, presents the Opening Reception for Ceirra Evans' art exhibit titled "Come Home with Me" on Friday, September 22, 2023.
Ceirra Evans is an emerging artist based in Louisville, Kentucky who is known for her accessible, honest, and often humorous paintings portraying stories of poverty, queerness, family, and addiction. "I want everything on the canvas to be seen, to be as palatable as possible, (for people) to look at a scene and not guess what it’s about". The paintings are narrative in nature and evolved from her early years growing up in the Appalachian foothills of Eastern Kentucky.
A 2021 graduate of Spalding University, Ceirra’s work has been reviewed in Hyperallergic, The New Yorker and other publications, and is held in private collections throughout the United States.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The exhibit will be on display from September 19th through December 13th.
Gallery hours are Monday from 6:00-9:00 PM, Tuesday-Saturday from 12:00-9:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00-5:00 PM.
