Sustainable Blacksburg continues their Lunch and Learn series titled "Green Burial in Blacksburg" offered in person at the Blacksburg Library and online on Zoom on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

Hear from John Boyer, the Director of Public Works for the Town of Blacksburg, about the town’s newly adopted green burial option for Westview Cemetery. A green burial is a way of caring for the dead that minimizes environmental impact, conserves natural resources, reduces carbon emissions, protects worker health, and can aid in the restoration and/or preservation of habitat.

Is green burial a new approach – or perhaps closer to the ways families have traditionally laid their loved ones to rest. Are you curious about green burial for yourself or someone in your family? Bring your questions and John will have answers!
