The Newport Community Center hosts the Three Band Concert with Andy Mcleod, Mike Gangloff and Solar Hex on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

Enjoy an evening of experimental folk music featuring Pennsylvania guitarist Andy Mcleod with local support from Mike and Cara Gangloff, and Solar Hex.

Mike and Cara Gangloff are Appalachian indie folkers with an international taste in their instrumentation (hardanger fiddle, hurdy gurdy, more) and a unified musical theory that connects the dots from free jazz and improv music to the Gershwins and regional old-time tunes.

Mike Gangloff is also a member of the old-time stringband Black Twig Pickers and the acoustic band Pelt among others.

Solar Hex, based in Blacksburg, VA, performs venerable cello and vocal concoctions from the house on chicken legs deep in the hollow.

Currently focused on exploring color and tone, and the ways in which the sound of an acoustic cello can be stretched and extended.
