Claytor Lake State Park presents a Solar Eclipse 2024 Viewing Party on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Join us for this rare and fascinating event. The next solar eclipse visible from the US won’t be until 2044, so don’t miss out! From our vantage point we will get to witness a partial solar eclipse of 80-90% coverage, so eye protection for viewing the eclipse is a must. Solar viewing glasses will be on sale in the Visitor Center for $1.00 each plus tax while supplies last.
You can view this eclipse from anywhere in the park (weather depending), but there will be a naturalist at the beach building answering any eclipse related questions you may have.
The eclipse will begin around 2:00 PM and reach its peak by 3:15 PM.
The event is free, but the $7.00 per vehicle state park parking fee does apply.
