New River Valley Community Services (NRVCS) presents the program "Be Here Tomorrow: An Evening With Kevin Hines" on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Edwards Hall on New River Community College's Dublin, VA campus.
To recognize September as Suicide Awareness month, the Community Wellness and Outreach team at New River Valley Community Services is excited to welcome Kevin Hines, a bestselling author, global public speaker, and award-winning documentary filmmaker to speak.
In the year 2000, two years after he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 19, Kevin attempted to take his life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. Many factors contributed to his miraculous survival including a sea lion which kept him afloat until the Coast Guard arrived. Kevin now travels the world sharing his story of hope, healing, and recovery while teaching people of all ages the art of wellness & the ability to survive pain with true resilience. His motto: #BeHereTomorrow and every day after that.
Kevin is an excellent public speaker who is able to immediately connect with audiences of youth and adults. Kevin is honest, courageous and not shy to challenge members of the audience to become allies of people living with mental illness. He has an uncanny ability to speak both to people who profoundly understand mental illness (because they are living with it or love someone who does) and to people who know very little about mental illness. I believe, with my whole heart, that Kevin’s message saves lives.
This event will be free to the public. Seating however, will be limited, due to limited space.

There will be several community partners at the event to hand out free resources. The first 100 people will receive a free copy of one of Kevin's books that he has authored.
