Description:
The Blacksburg Museum and Cultural Foundation presents the 10th Annual New Town Festival: Blues, Brews and BBQ on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at St. Luke and Odd Fellows Hall.
Performance Schedule:
• 12:30-1:30 PM: The JoJo Stockton Project
• 2:00-3:00 PM: McFadden and Friends
• 3:30-4:30 PM: Lady D and Mi$$ion
Join us as we celebrate the historic, New Town, neighborhood and St Luke & Odd Fellows Hall! The Blues, Brews, and BBQ event recalls some of the happier times in New Town, when friends and neighbors would gather for singing, dancing, community, and fellowship.
St. Luke & Odd Fellows Hall, a nationally recognized historic landmark, once served as the social center of New Town, a neighborhood for African-American residents during segregation. It now houses a museum of African-American history and culture, and serves as an important reminder of the resilience, pride, self-reliance, and community spirit of the people who lived in New Town, as well as the legacy of injustice that segregation imposed.
Enjoy live music from The JoJo Stockton Project, McFadden and Friends and Lady D and Mi$$ion.
As band leader and guitarist for Hott Sauce, Franklin County native JoJo Stockton is no stranger to the Roanoke music scene, where he currently is based. If you’re a fan of neo-soul, R&B, funk or old school music, make plans to see JoJo Stockton.
